LOST home

Two paramedics from Bratislava, Matej and Oliver are part of a big military offensive against the city of Mosul. They advance through the city along with the Iraqi army which is liberating it from the so-called Islamic State. Their role is to rescue lives. However, they are constantly confronted with despair and hopelessness. The film also shows the Yazidi from the already liberated Sinjar. Thus, a contrast is drawn between the people who want to get out of Iraq into safety and the paramedics who, in turn, voluntarily leave their families to help on the frontline.

peace to you all

The East of Ukraine turned into a war zone in 2014. Military and political leaders are struggling for large-scale territories, but there live ordinary people who want nothing but to live without fear of bombing, shooting, and disruption. Slovak photographer Juraj Mravec originally planned to travel the territory of the entire former Soviet Union and document the everyday life of the former brotherly nations. However, the visit to eastern Ukraine has forced it to concentrate precisely on the conflict areas that are not under the control of the Ukrainian government. The photographer visits not only ordinary survivors in the war zone, but also soldiers and veterans and listens to the stories they have experienced. The illusion of the fraternity of the nations is lost, and behind all, there are only power games that ignore the people in whose interest the war is allegedly led. Impression of the picture is enhanced by the combination of black-and-white photos and movie footage.
